Phil 'n' the Blank Bio

Phil‘n’The Blank(PNTB) were a musical duet that played in the late 80’s in St. John’s Newfoundland, as well as visits to other parts of the province.

 

The duet was comprised of Adrien Colohan (vocals) and Mike Barron (vocals and acoustic guitar).They frequented pubs in the George Street area as well as playing in many other locations and venues including the first 5 George Street Festivals.

 

Their brief existence (mainly 1986–1989) included an appearance on CBC radio’s“Going Solo”with Ray Belew and a guest appearance on the CBC TV’s“Country Session”, co-hosted by Eddie Eastman, Bob MacDonald, and Jacinta Cormier. They also hosted,wrote and performed on Channel 9’s “The Phil‘N’the Blank Show”, which consisted of five 30 minute episodes including 2 live performances from the Carriage Works, a quintessential pub on George Street, where PNTB got their start at the weekly amateur night hosted by John Barela.

 

PNTB’s repertoire included songs by the Everly Brothers, the Guess Who, America, Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby Stills and Nash, CCR, and other classic rock acts of the50s,60s and early seventies.
